Happy Monday! This week, our Monday Member Spotlight is on the Fountain Hills Friends of the Library. They have some exciting news: next week is Friends of the Library Week!

The Fountain Hills Friends of the Library is joining with Friends all over our country to celebrate October 15 through 22 as National Friends of Libraries Week. Through fund raising and service, FHFL works with the Fountain Hills Public Library to provide additional events, enrichment programs, activities and equipment.

The Fountain Hills Friends of the Library is dedicated to ensuring the continued privilege of keeping the outstanding library we have in our community.  Early Fountain Hills’ community vision and leadership made the beautiful library facility possible and Friends of the Library is committed to the support, enrichment and enhancement of the opportunities available at the library for the citizens of our community.

Yearly, Friends monetary support funds over $30,000 of additional programs and services that can only be offered by our local library because of this monetary support.  Enhancements made possible by Friends of the Library include: the Resale Book Shop, Books for the Homebound, Computer and office equipment, Summer Reading Program, Author and Music Series, Teen Council and teen events, Semi-annual document shredding.

In addition, Friends offers annual $3,000.00 scholarships to local students to encourage young men and women to become fulfilled, successful citizens and leaders of our community, country and the world.  The scholarships are available for application to accredited institutions and are renewable for up to four years based on the student’s grade point average.  Special consideration will be given to students who give of their personal time to volunteer at library and community events.  Recipients of the scholarships will be determined by the Golden Eagle Foundation Committee.

Fountain Hills’ residents are encouraged to add their support by becoming a member of the Friends of the Library.  Individual memberships are $15.00, Family memberships $25.00, Bronze $50.00, Gold $100.00, and Platinum/Lifetime $1,000.00 and above.
