ART IN PUBLIC PLACES TOURING GUIDE

 
Art and Sculpture in and around the Library and the River of Time Museum:
 
“Ring of Peace” by Chris Navarro, will be located near the southeast side of the Library/Museum building.
 
The Library stained glass windows, “Windows of the Mind” by Mary Meyer, located on the north side of the library. Check them out from inside during the day as well as from outside during the evening when the library lights up from within.
 
“Precious Cargo” by Jason Napier, a majestic bronze of a mother lion holding her young cub by the scruff of the neck, located at the Northeast corner of the Library.
 
“The Enduring Spirit” by Martha Pettigrew, located in the Library/Museum lobby. A bronze, colored in a green patina, adorns this beautiful mother and child keeping warm from the desert winds.
 
“Old Friends” by George Lundeen, located in the Library/Museum lobby. A must-see bronze of a man greeted by his winged friends.
 
“A Good Book” by Mark Lundeen, an endearing bronze of a woman and young children captivated by reading a good book, located at the entrance to the Library.
 
“Self Made Man” by Bobbie Carlyle, will be located near the northwest side of Library.
 
“Humpty Dumpty” by Kimber Fiebiger, provided for the children in Fountain Hills. Located next to the Children’s Room in the Library.
 
“Petrograph Screen” by Doug Weigel, located in the Library/Museum lobby. Petrographs (painting on rocks) and petroglyphs (carving or etching on rocks) were the two primary ways that ancient civilizations in the Southwest left a record of their lives.
 
“Desert Ghosts” by Ken Rowe, located in the Library/Museum lobby. Rarely seen in the Valley anymore, the bronze wolves are a reminder that life in the desert can be fragile.
 
“Ol’ Bill” by Dr. Paul Kolwaite, located in the Library/Museum lobby. Craggy and wrinkled by decades in the desert sun, you just know that Ol’ Bill is still out there somewhere ropin’ doggies.

“Chauncey the Rabbit” by Jim Budish, a playful bronze for all ages to enjoy, located in front of the Library.
 
“Circle of Peace” by Gary Price, located on the south side of the Library/Museum.
 
“Santa Clara Wedding Vase Gift” – sculpture by Doug Hyde, a life-size work by a noted Native American artist.
 
“Eagle Soaring Free” – sculpture by Dan Ratso.
 
“Sheep In The Canyon”, painting by Yoko Russell.

“P-Bar Ranch” – painting by J. Russell Larson.
 
“General Crook on Apache” – painting by Earl MacPherson.

“King On The Superstitions”, painting by Earl MacPherson.

Art and Sculpture in and around the Community Center:

“Song of the Ancients” by Red Wolf, located in the lobby of the Community Center.
 
“Joy of Music” by George Lundeen, located near the south entrance to the Community Center. A life-size quintet of musicians.
 
“Flower Dancing in the Wind” by Jerry McKellar, located at the western edge of the Community Center courtyard. This Native American woman would be at home on the stage with the ballet as she arches back and raises her face to the sun.

“Embrace” by David Hiles, a stone sculpture evoking feelings of love and compassion, located on the southeast corner of the Community Center Plaza.
 
“Great Arrow” by Michael Jones is located at the west entrance of the Community Center. Perched as if it landed in the earth after a long flight, this super-scaled arrow is a reminder of the Native Americans who have lived here for centuries.
 
“Damned Wind” by J. R. Eson, a life-size bronze of a man fighting the desert winds, located near the west entrance to the Community Center.

“Truth” by Kendra Fleishman, located in the parking lot median at the Community Center, this cast in bronze displays a form of grace and elegance.
 
“The Enduring Family” by J. K. Laing, located on the eastern side of the Community Center Plaza. An abstract metallic sculpture of family and unity is expressed in this beautiful piece.

“Mayan Wind” by Martin Gates, located in the Community Center courtyard.
 

“Potato Man” by Susan Geissler located on the Northeast side of the Library.

“Ladies” in Community Center restroom by Megan.

“Blossom” by J.C. Sewell, located in the Community Center courtyard near the Southeast corner.
