PARKS

Fountain Hills has worked hard to develop a park system which provides residents with amenities such as tennis, baseball, football, picnic ramadas, soccer fields, basketball courts and paved walking paths. The community also has a neighborhood dog park where residents can take their pets to socialize.

Fountain Park
At the center of the community is Fountain Park and the world-famous landmark fountain. The park encompasses nearly 30 acres and features paved walking paths, park benches, picnic ramadas, a disc golf course and a children’s’ playground. Often the location for community-hosted events such as live concerts, the annual balloon race and community fairs, the park offers the perfect venue with its grassy lawn along the lakeshore.

Golden Eagle Park
Completed in 1998, the 25-acre park is located just north of Palisades Boulevard on Golden Eagle Boulevard. Amenities at the facility include lighted tennis courts; two lighted basketball courts; hardball diamond; two lighted sand-volleyball courts; three lighted multipurpose fields for softball, little league and soccer; horseshoe pits; and two children’s’ play areas with sand and play structures.

Desert Vista Neighborhood Dog Park
One popular amenity in Fountain Hills is the new Desert Vista Neighborhood Dog Park, which features an "off-leash recreational facility" for local dog owners. The 3-acre facility gives pet owners a place to take their dogs to socialize. A fence divides the area into two sections, one for small dogs and one for large dogs.

McDowell Mountain Park
This 21,099-acre regional park is located four miles north of Fountain Hills. The competitive track has three different loops; a long loop - 8.2 miles, a sport loop - 3.0 miles, and a technical loop - 2.9 miles. Skills are tested with obstacles, steep inclines, swooping turns, technical descents and rugged terrain.

McDowell Mountain Park has over 50 miles of hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding trails through beautiful desert scenery. Wildlife viewings are common; look for deer, javelina, coyotes and a multitude of bird species. A couple of trails are less than a mile long; several are one to four miles; and the Pemberton is 15.3 miles. Elevations rise from 1,600 feet to 3,000 feet at the base of the McDowell Mountains. Awesome views surround you. Whether you are going for a short stroll or looking for a challenge, you’ll enjoy the trails and the vistas.

For campers, McDowell Mountain Park has 76 individual sites for tent or RV camping. Each one accommodates up to a 45-foot RV. The developed sites have water and electrical hook-ups, picnic tables, barbecue fire rings and a dump station. Restrooms offer flush toilets and showers.

Four Peaks Park
The 14-acre Four Peaks Park includes a lighted soccer field, tennis courts, two baseball fields, temporary skate park, picnic tables and a large ramada. Future upgrades to the park will include an inline-roller-hockey court, two basketball courts, and a permanent skate facility.
