It is common knowledge that Arizona is known all over the world to be a golf destination. With thousands of golf courses spread across the valley, it is hard to keep track of which one might be the best fit for you. Tonto Verde Golf Club, located just off Dynamite road, where the furthest northeast reaches of the valley, offers 36-holes of pure golfing bliss to those looking for pristine desert mountain beauty, great golf, great dining and great people.

Tonto Verde’s little known secret is that it is often mistaken for a private club. While 90% of the rounds played are by members and guests – Tonto actively welcomes the public. Non-members can play up to 6 times per season, October through May.  This extra revenue not only helps keeps members dues down, but helps pay for course and club enhancements.  In addition to the semi-private nature of Tonto Verde, any non-member can partake in the “Summer Loyalty Program” starting June 2019.

So what exactly is so compelling for members of Tonto Verde Golf Club? One word, golf.  The Peaks, named for its jaw-dropping vistas of the Four Peaks, is a Gary Panks/David Graham design that opened in 1993. The Ranch references the lush grazing land fronting the Verde River. Panks crafted this one on his own in 1999. The Peaks has higher elevation, and fairways pinched in by the desert. The Ranch is longer, has more bunkers, wider fairways and undulating green complexes, giving it a more muscular feel. Holes 13 through 15 are the Ranch signature holes, a massive par-5, drivable par-4 and a par-3 over water. As with the Peaks, the surrounding McDowell Mountain Range and the breathtaking panoramas are the highlight of Tonto Verde Golf Club.

If you are interested in learning more about how to become a member of Tonto Verde, there are many different options – all of which have amazing benefits. Our non-resident members can enjoy unlimited golf (for one or two people, depending on membership), access to amenities such as the clubhouse, pool and fitness center, not to mention FREE golf cart usage and dining discounts.

As incomparable as the two championship golf courses are, the restaurant and facilities are every bit as strong. The Mesquite Grill won an Open Table Diners’ Choice Award in 2016 and has been ranked as one of the Top 100 al fresco dining spots in the nation. The restaurant’s warm, rustic interior and elegant accents create an open and inviting atmosphere from the floor to the ceiling.  The spectacular patio that peers out over Tonto Lake, lush desert foliage, a perfect view of Four Peaks, and the family of eagles that daily fish in the lake not 50 yards from you, the dining experience is nothing short of memorable.

Though the Mesquite Grill is located within the Tonto Verde golf community, it is open to the public Tuesday-Sunday, for lunch, happy hour, and dinner.  Offering an extensive wine list, Prime Rib Night, Seafood Platters, or your basic juicy hamburger, you will without a doubt find something exquisite to satisfy your palate.  Starting in May 2019, the Mesquite Grill will offer a special of “buy one entrée, get the second half off” throughout the summer.
