Mayor Dickey emphasizes trust and collaborationJanuary 23, 2019 10:22 am
At her first State of the Town Address Mayor Ginny Dickey raised the issue of citizen trust as a key priority.
“Building up citizen trust so that as decisions are made and ideas take shape, residents will engage and assist in exploring them” the Mayor commented to a full house at the Fountain Hills community center on January 17, 2019.
She talked about the Council working together, the importance of public safety, the role of real estate professionals, the business community and residents.
While touching on a little bit of everything, the Mayor’s message was clearly about everyone working together.
She stressed the importance of work with neighboring Native American communities which include the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation and the Salt River Maricopa Indian Nation on education and tourism.
The Mayor stressed concern about the Town’s budget, “…over the next couple of years we have to talk about realistic revenue options. We can argue those capital dollar amounts and how to raise them, what projects can be deferred, but it’s hard to discount the shortage in our operating budget.”
Mayor Dickey’s key priorities are economic development, serving residents and businesses, keeping neighborhoods safe, protecting public assets, finding new ways to attract residents and visitors, and re-thinking conventional strategies for community resources.
