Mayoral debate to feature Dickey and YatesJune 20, 2018 2:50 pm
For the first time in many election cycles, the office of Mayor in Fountain Hills has two experienced candidates vying for the top spot.
Running for office are past two-term Town Council members, Ginny Dickey and Cecil Yates. Both have extensive background in public serve on boards, commissions and community groups.
Dickey’s list of accomplishments extent beyond Fountain Hills and include serving on the MAG board and Public Policy Chair for the American Association of University Women. She was inducted into the 2010 Hall of Fame, she participated in all FH strategic planning sessions since 1984. She went from room mother to PTA Board, Superintendent and Facility Advisory Committees to Site Council then School Board, where she served from 1994 to 2002, twice as President. Ginny was a Charter Member of the FH Arts Council (now FHCCA) and served on the Theater Board as Treasurer and accountant, earning their 2009 Founders Award. She performed in several AriZoni winning productions.
Yates is also a 2nd term Councilmember (Vice Mayor 2014) for the Town of Fountain Hills where he has vast experience in economic development, writing city ordinances, and working to bridge the gap of public and private sector development. He sits on the Board of Directors for the Greater Phoenix Economic Council (GPEC), the Valley Metro RPTA Board of Directors, as well as the Maricopa Association of Governments’ Domestic Violence Committee.
The 2018 Mayoral Debate is presented by SRP and sponsored by the Fountain Hills Civic & Cultural Association and the Fountain Hills Chamber of Commerce. Everyone is welcome to attend and hear the candidates discuss important public issues including economic development, budget, growth as-well-as audience questions.
