Saguaro Road Construction Update

The Town of Fountain Hills awarded a contract to Nesbitt Contracting to improve Saguaro Blvd. between Trevino Drive and Fountain Hills Blvd.  Improvements include removing and reconstructing the asphalt pavement; replacing curb (including median curb) and sections of sidewalk to meet ADA requirements; installing storm drain pipe, catch basins and landscaping; modifying the fountain plaza at Saguaro Blvd. and Avenue of the Fountains; and replacing the traffic signal at the Saguaro Blvd./Palisades Blvd. intersection. Construction began in early February 2015 and is slated for completion in October 2015.

Nesbitt Contracting continues reconstructing the west side of Saguaro Boulevard between Fountain Hills Boulevard and Trevino Drive. In May, the contractor will perform the following activities:

  • continue removing and replacing concrete curb between El Lago Boulevard and Ledferd Lane
  • continue milling (grinding) the asphalt, grading the roadway and placing aggregate base course (ABC) in preparation for paving from El Lago Boulevard to Ledferd Lane
  • realigning the water and sewer lines on the west side of the Saguaro/Palisades intersection to accommodate storm drain improvements
  • begin installing the first layer (base course) of asphalt between El Lago and Kingstree boulevards in mid-May
  • begin installing storm drain pipe at the Saguaro/Palisades/Panorama intersection

Beginning Monday, May 18, 2015, construction work hours will be 5:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Some evening and weekend work may be required.

Currently traffic on Saguaro Boulevard is restricted to one lane in each direction on the east side of the roadway from Fountain Hills Boulevard to Ledford Lane. In addition, traffic control changes will be required at the Saguaro/ Palisades/ Panorama intersection during storm drain installation.  Access will be maintained for residents, businesses and emergency vehicles at all times; however, expect brief traffic delays as the paving operation moves across driveways and side streets.  Thank you for your patience during this work!
